Golfer Tiger Woods on 5 drugs during DUI incident

A toxicology report has revealed that famous golfer Tiger Woods had several drugs in his system when he was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI in late May. The drugs included THC, Vicodin, Xanax, Ambien and Dilaudid.

On May 29, authorities found the 41-year-old golfer asleep in his vehicle which was sitting in the middle of a Florida highway. Police said that he sounded confused when he was questioned. He reportedly told an officer that he was taking a prescription medication, though it was not stated what that medication was. After the incident, Woods said that he had experienced an unexpected reaction to the medication following a back surgery he had undergone in April. In early July, Woods released a statement saying that he had completed treatment at a private intensive program out of state.

Following the release of the toxicology report, Woods issued another statement saying that he had been trying to treat the back pain and a sleeping problem on his own without medical assistance. He continued by saying that he was now working with doctors to treat his medical conditions and has made significant progress.

Being convicted of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol can have serious consequences, including a jail sentence, a suspension of driving privileges and potentially even job repercussions. As a result, people who are facing these charges might want to contact a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible so that a strategy to counter the allegations can be built. One potential challenge could be to the traffic stop itself, with the assertion that the authorities did not have the requisite reasonable suspicion to pull the vehicle over.
