Virginia man facing drug possession charges after search

| Sep 9, 2016 | Drug Possession

One man in Virginia may be working on his criminal case after recently being taken into custody. Reports stated that the man is a former state trooper and is currently facing charges relating to drug possession. The drugs were allegedly found in the man’s home after police acted on a search warrant as part of a larger investigation.

Details on the warrant and investigation were not available at the time of the report. Nonetheless, officers reportedly found drugs and drug paraphernalia during their search. Reports stated that glass smoking “devices” containing residue believed to be meth and ecstasy were purportedly discovered as well as pills suspected to be hydrocodone. Firearms and digital scales were also taken from the home during the search.

The 36-year-old man is currently facing multiple charges relating to the search. Three counts of felony drug possession, three counts of possessing drugs with guns and drug possession with intent to distribute were filed against him. At the time ot the arraignment, it was noted that the man had waived his right to an attorney, and his first hearing is set for next month.

Though the Virginia man initially waived his right to an attorney, he may wish to revisit that decision as his case moves forward. Legal assistance may prove useful as the man works to combat the drug possession charges and other allegations brought against him. Information on various criminal defense strategies may also benefit him as he works to create a meaningful defense presentation for his case.
