Felonies leveled against Virginia man accused in shooting

| Jun 1, 2016 | Felonies

One man in Virginia may soon be looking for the legal path that could best suit his situation after recently being taken into custody. Reports stated that the man is facing felonies after he was allegedly involved in a shooting that took place during a child custody exchange. The man had apparently met the child’s mother and her husband at a gas station for the exchange to take place, but it was unclear which parent may have had custody of the child at the time.

Nonetheless, during the meeting, the 27-year-old man purportedly fired shots into the couple’s vehicle. The woman’s husband was apparently struck by a bullet, and as a result, he suffered fatal injuries. It was noted that a bystander attempted to aid the individual but was unsuccessful. At the time of the report, it was unknown what may have caused the shooting to occur.

The man reportedly left the scene of the incident, but he was later located by police. It was noted that authorities also purportedly found a gun in the area where the man had run. As a result, he is currently facing charges for first-degree murder and another allegation.

Facing charges for felonies can be a difficult situation to navigate. Therefore, the man accused in this Virginia incident may wish to find out more information on the charges that have been leveled against him and how he may be able to take action against them. If he wishes to do so, consulting with an experienced defense attorney may help him comprehend his legal options more clearly.
