Woman charged with DUI after fatal Virginia crash

On Behalf of | May 13, 2016 | Drunk Driving (DUI)

Accusations of criminal activity can be damaging to a person in many different ways. Their reputation, finances, emotions and other aspects could be negatively affected by criminal charges, especially if they are falsely accused. Nonetheless, individuals facing charges for DUI or other allegations have legal options that they may wish to explore in order to potentially defend against such charges.

One woman is likely hoping to create and present a defense after a recent crash in Virginia. Reports stated that the woman was allegedly driving a box truck full of furniture when the truck failed to remain on the road. As a result, the truck overturned, and a passenger in the truck was fatally injured. It was reported that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Authorities reportedly suspected that the woman was under the influence when the accident took place. However, it was not reported whether any blood-alcohol tests were administered or whether she participated in any field sobriety tests. At the time of the report, the driver had been charged with DUI and was still in custody. It was noted that the accident was still being investigated.

If the woman would like to defend against the DUI charges levied against her, she will want to take the time to fully understand her legal situation. Gathering information on the charges as well as Virginia criminal proceedings and other related topics could help her ensure that she makes decisions with which she is comfortable and confident. Additionally, consulting with an experienced defense attorney will help her determine her desired legal avenues.
